Acknowledgement of Country

Sandpit respectfully works across the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nations, as well as the Kaurna and Yugambeh peoples. We recognise and respect their continued cultural, spiritual and technological practices.

We also extend this to all First Nations peoples across the land known as Australia and pay respects to their Ancestors and Elders past and present.

As the very first storytellers and technologists, First Nations peoples possess invaluable knowledge and perspectives that are crucial to the work that we do across both the physical and digital realms.

Australians & Hollywood

Australians & Hollywood

Australians & Hollywood, at the NFSA in Canberra, is an exhibition celebrating iconic moments in contemporary Australian film and the people and stories that brought them to life.

To support the exhibition, Sandpit helped to create a unique interactive digital exhibition tour and a fun and individualised post-experience for each visitor.

Spotlight

The Spotlight tour is a digital exhibition companion which allows users to capture GIFs, located on small screens throughout the exhibition, with their smartphones. Once captured this collection of GIFs can be taken home and explored, either through bonus exhibition content or through the creation of your own Baz Luhrmann style digital collage.

GIF Booth

At the end of the exhibition, users are invited to create their own Australian cinema themed animated GIFs. They can become a gladiator in the colosseum, or a drag queen in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. These GIFs are then able to be downloaded through the Spotlight interface and shared on social media.
