We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We celebrate the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders of all communities who also work and live on this land.
Sandpit collaborated with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) on their internationally acclaimed Wonderland exhibition in Melbourne. The exhibition has toured to Singapore and Wellington.
Wonderland is an immersive exhibition celebrating the surreal stories of Lewis Carroll.
In this experience, we tumble down the rabbit hole into Alice’s world, exploring her amazing adventures and her singular place in popular culture. We explore the evolution of film, and how technology has shaped Alice in Wonderland’s many retellings across many media, with an emphasis on special effects.
Each visitor to Wonderland gets an enchanted full-colour map to navigate the exhibition space. There are four versions of the map – Queen of Hearts, Rabbit, Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat versions – and each map triggers different video, audio and interactive content for the visitor.
Place your map on magical plinths in the exhibition space to unlock hidden stories, discover hidden content and become your own card soldier in the Queen’s Croquet Ground on a projection screen.
Once you get home, enter the unique code on your map on the Wonderland website. You’ll find a record of your visit as well as curiouser and curiouser clues to a riddle that can be solved for a prize.
