Australian String Quartet
Project Ludwig
THE BRIEF..........................
An interactive journey where the audience collectively constructs their own quartet.

THE PROJECT.........................
Project Ludwig is an interactive journey where the audience collectively constructs their own quartet from six of Beethoven’s Opus 18 works, in a choose-your-own-adventure style event. Each performance culminates in a new and unique Beethoven quartet experience, performed live by the Australian String Quartet.
The audience has 30 minutes to ‘vote’ for which four movements to be played that evening (each movement has six possible options that can be selected). Each option is represented by a page of ‘sheet music’ – which has a unique hidden NFC tag inside it. One side is an excerpt of sheet music – and on the reverse side, its qualities are evocatively described for the audience.
Once the audience has made a selection, they are able to ‘vote’ through an experiential interaction with a violin and music stand. The audience member votes by placing the sheet music on a music stand, and they hear a small excerpt of what they have selected, which magically plays out of the violin through a conductive transducer.
THE TECHNOLOGY..........................
NFC, Custom CMS, Raspberry Pi, Bone conductive transducer.
